Tehran, December 21 (MRUD NEWS)—Iran has established 'Transport Development Fund' as part of the plan to develop its transport infrastructures in different modes of transport.
The state-owned Fund attempts to attract investments to transport projects through Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
In an interview with the managing director of Iran Transport Development Fund, Davoud Danesh-Jafari, who as an economist previously served as Iran minister of economy, on the sidelines of the 6th international exhibition of transport, logistics, and related industries held in Iran from 18 to 20 December, he explained about the mechanisms of the Fund as a financial tool to finance transport projects.
Danesh-Jafari said that the fund makes government's share in investment of economical projects five times through contributions of the private sector and the banking system.
The Fund particularly supports the potentials of knowledge-based companies in order to implement those transport plans which are economical, he explained.
The idea of forming transport development fund is rooted in the 6th five-year development plan (Article 48), while the Statute was ratified in July 2019 and now the Fund is operational, he further added.
He invited knowledge-based companies and investors to participate and propose economical plans for various transport projects in Iran.
Formation of transport fund dates back to the financial crisis in 2008 when many countries faced challenges in financing their transport infrastructures. So, the countries draw on the PPP model to continue with developing their infrastructures.
